Description |
Greetings! I am a philosophical counselor certified by the American Philosophical Practitioners Association (APPA), proudly Afro-Latino, with a vibrant career teaching diverse philosophy courses at the City University of New York (CUNY/Kingsborough) and theology at St. John's University. Born and raised in Brooklyn, I also bring a rich spiritual and pastoral counseling background to my work. I have learned to contextualize my philosophical work for diverse people with varying beliefs, experiences, cultural identities, and existential maladies. My academic studies have covered a wide range of disciplines (astrophysics, philosophy, and theology), all of which have helped me serve the clients I work with. As a philosophical counselor, I am committed to walking alongside individuals or groups to address and navigate current challenges. This process involves a deep dive into one's beliefs, perspectives, values, experiences, emotions, desires, goals, choices, identity, and life stories. I utilize various guided philosophical techniques, integrating different methods as needed to suit the unique context of each session. I specialize in helping persons reframe, analyze, discern, and disentangle ideas, concepts, core beliefs, values, and perspectives to help my clients live healthier and more sustained lives. My ultimate aim is to nurture the client's philosophical insight, thereby fostering a sense of empowerment and self-discovery. My expertise spans the rich territory where philosophy meets existential and spiritual concerns. My research interests include Philosophical and Theological Anthropology, Phenomenology, Metaphysics, Perennial Philosophy, Nihilism, and Existentialism. This interdisciplinary approach informs my practice, allowing me to offer nuanced and comprehensive guidance to those seeking clarity and understanding in their lives. My goal as a philosophical counselor is to bring thousands of years of wisdom to bear on modern - yet perennial - problems to bridge yesterday's wisdom to today's world. As Socrates stated while on trial in Athens, the unexamined life is not worth living for the human being. So, let us examine life together! |
