Description

In my practice, I use a holistic process that is client-centered, interactive, and strength-based, incorporating insight from Eastern and Western philosophy, psychology, social work, and the arts. This framework ensures that we select accessible tools, resources, and mediums that resonate and support your current needs. It is my goal to help clients address difficult questions, work through challenging thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and make well-informed decisions that support their goals and overall wellbeing. Most importantly, we work together in a safe, inclusive, and supportive space. In our sessions, we can investigate and discuss a range of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social, educational, and vocational themes that may be emerging in daily life, with the aim of helping you achieve greater clarity, authenticity, and flexibility moving forward.

As a multidisciplinary professional, I have been actively involved in teaching, guest lecturing, mentorship, and academic coaching, and since 2021, I have been developing innovative research, programming, and services, including adapted mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy, at hospitals and anxiety, neurodevelopmental, education, and occupational therapy labs across Canada. In addition to my counselling practice, I work as a Program Engagement Co-Facilitator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, one of the largest mental health research and teaching hospitals in Canada, where I assist with clinical research and programming for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. I also serve on the Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), helping to build tools, resources, and educational opportunities that support historically marginalized communities.

During my academic training, I have received over $120,000 in research funding, grants, and awards, with my most recent research on autism, ADHD, and stress being awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grant, an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), and a Council of Ontario Universities’ Autism Scholars Award for pioneering autism research. I have over 30 research and creative publications and have delivered over 40 conference presentations, webinars, invited talks, and guest lectures across Canada, the United States, and internationally.

Throughout my time at Toronto Metropolitan University, I've held numerous Teaching and Graduate Assistant contracts for several courses in the Philosophy, Arts and Contemporary Studies, and Social Sciences and Humanities Departments. I have also been a Disabilities Tutor and Mentor in the Tri-Mentorship Program within the Faculty of Arts. At Toronto Metropolitan University and Western University, I have delivered guest lectures in the Philosophy, Health Sciences, and Occupational Therapy Departments.

Outside of academia, I have owned and operated a personal training and coaching practice since 2009, working with clients from diverse age groups and backgrounds to achieve their health, fitness, and nutrition goals. Using a biopsychosocial approach, I am especially interested in practices that support the mental wellbeing and both the healthspan and lifespan of my clients.
