Description |
Philosophical counselor based in the Greater Milwaukee area, but available to meet with clients worldwide. When asked what I do, I tell people I am a practical philosopher. That typically opens opportunities for further conversation. After a career as a fairly traditional academic teaching classes and publishing research in Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Critical Thinking, I transitioned into entrepreneurial, public, and client-focused work. After completing APPA certification in 2014, I have engaged in philosophical counseling and coaching, executive coaching, and ethics and organizational consulting through my business, ReasonIO. Another aspect of my work in public philosophy involves producing educational content making philosophy accessible worldwide. My main YouTube channel contains over 3,000 videos, has over 145,000 subscribers, and over 14 million views. I appear frequently on podcasts and shows discussing concepts and real-life applications of philosophy, and provide lectures, discussions, and workshops. Through ReasonIO, I offer tutorial services to clients who wish to study philosophical texts, thinkers, and topics. These services include preparation for the British A-levels in Philosophy, as well as for the Ethics and the Philosophy portions of the Indian UPSC-administered civil service examination. For those who desire a more structured curriculum, I also develop online classes in the ReasonIO Academy and mini-classes in Curious. My approach as a philosophical counselor is dialogical and conversational. I draw particularly upon Aristotelian, Stoic, Existentialist, and Hermeneutic philosophical traditions to provide resources for helping my clients understand and work through the issues they bring to our sessions. My expertise extends to matters such as moral dilemmas, interpersonal relationships, existential crises and concerns, discordant or underdeveloped belief systems, emotional issues, work-life balance, career decisions, transition between life-stages, and realization of human potential. I also assist clients with engaging in self-reflection, productive decision-making, personal development, and realizing their own capacities for incorporating Philosophy to improve their lives, relationships, and careers. The majority of my sessions are conducted virtually via Skype, Zoom, or Google Meet, but I also meet clients locally for face-to-face sessions in my local area. |
