March 16, 2025: Ashwini Mokashi
featured book: Sapiens and Sthitaprajna

I am currently a Lecturer of Hindi and Marathi at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford University. I am a Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies and a Member of Wolfson College, Oxford. I teach Literary Hindi practice, Elementary Hindi practice and Marathi practice courses.

My academic focus is on Comparative Philosophy, exploring the intersections between Ancient Indian and Classical Greek thought, as well as philosophical counseling. My book, Sapiens and Sthitaprajna (2019), examines the parallels between Seneca’s Stoicism and the Bhagavad-Gita. This work has been translated into Hindi (Sapiens aur Sthitaprajna) with a Marathi version in progress.

I frequently publish in the Journal of ACPR, India, on spiritual philosophy and sometimes at the Journal of APPA, New York, on philosophical counseling. I also engage with a broader scholarly audience through my profile on Academia.edu and my blog, where I write in Hindi, Marathi, and English on various philosophical topics.

Additionally, I create Philosophy and Music programs through YouTube videos, such as Kabiriyat, which explores the philosophical themes of the poet Kabir. An upcoming project titled Tukayan will delve into the life and philosophy of the Marathi saint Tukaram. Relevant articles on these topics are available on my blog in Hindi, Marathi, and English.

I am committed to applying philosophy in practical contexts, founding Philosophy and Happiness, LLC, where I provided philosophical counseling services. I actively contribute to community and academic organizations, including the Princeton Research Forum in New Jersey, USA and ACPR in India, while drawing on corporate experience in human resources and leadership.
